7 Angel Related Videos and Songs to Inspire You

Angel

Below in no particular order, are seven song videos relating to angels.  I thank my angels every day and celebrate the help they give us all the time.  When I quickly found these very different songs about angels, I counted up and, realising there were seven, initially decided that I needed to change the number.  Articles like this usually have ten, twelve, five or six, but seven?  I was stopped and reminded of the meaning of the number seven in angel numbers.

The number seven is a sign of being supported by the divine, of being on the right path and of opportunity.  Good enough for me!

I am therefore honoured to bring you these seven songs:

Sarah Mclachlan and Carlos Santana Angel Live

Sarah Mclachlan is a singer-songwriter. The song Angel was on her 1998 album Surfacing, her fourth studio album.  She wrote the beautiful song shortly after being on the road for two years.  She’d gone to a cottage to write songs where she learnt of the death of another musician who’d died whilst touring.  As far as this version is concerned, the story is that Carlos’ people contacted Sarah’s people and asked if they could perform her song together.  The above video is the result.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Carlos Santana is a famous guitarist and the leader of the band Santana.  Carlos is highly spiritual, and he founded the Milagro Children’s Foundation to benefit children worldwide.  The foundation aims to close the achievement gap and break the cycle of poverty.

Footprints in the Sand Leona Lewis

The song Footprints in the Sand was inspired by the poem of the same name, believed to be authored by Mary Stevenson when her pencil just had a life of its own.  Simon Cowell came up with the idea of the song and shared the writing credits with Richard Page, Per Magnusson and David Kreuger.

There are several different ideas about what the song is about, but for me, it has always been about angels and God.  I am reliably informed that this song should be seen as about the support our angels give us. The original poem was divinely guided.

Angel Leona Lewis

Leona Lewis also recorded a song called Angel.  Both songs are from the album Spirit.  It’s a lovely song, including the lyrics:

Cause you are like a dream

For every night I say a prayer

Well, I swear are the answer’

Whilst I prefer the power of Footprints, I couldn’t not mention her pretty song Angel here as well.

Send Me An Angel Scorpions

‘Close your eyes and you will find the way out of the dark. Here I am (Here I am)’.  The song is from the German rock group Scorpions from their 1990 eleventh studio album Crazy World. Send me an Angel was the fourth single from the album; band members Rudolf Schenker and Klaus Meine co-wrote Send Me An Angel.

The song showcases Meine’s beautiful voice superbly and there is a feeling of contemplation, reverence and humbleness.

There Must be an Angel Eurythmics

Many Eurythmics songs have a frisson of tension.  Not so There Must be an Angel,  Annie Lennox sings the song from a place of pure joy.  They set the video in Versailles, with Dave Stewart playing the role of Louis XIV of France, known as the Sun King.  Lennox plays the part of a beautiful singer entertaining the king.

Angels Robbie Williams

Robbie Williams wrote the song with Guy Chambers, and he says that he wrote it about loved ones who pass on and come back to care for you.  Angels is from the 1997 Life Through a Lens Robbie Williams Album.

Angels has become an anthem and is probably one of the best known power ballads from the ‘90s.

An Angel written and performed by The Kelly Family

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUpmd4nm7YM

Written by Paddy Kelly for his mother, the song was initially aired on their eighth studio album, Over the Hump. It was released in 1994 and sold over six million copies.  The Kelly Family are an Irish-American musical group consisting of nine siblings and initially their parents as well.  Their music is multi-genre, and their repertoire includes pop, rock, folk music.  At the height of their fame, the group were most popular in Germany.

An Angel is a folksy rock song that has a repetitive chorus:

‘Sometimes I wish I were an angel

Sometimes I wish I were you

When you know the song was written as an ode to a young boy’s mother, the song becomes even more touching.
